Though previously a painter, I discovered gourds and fell in love with their possibilities. My husband brings me home wings, moths, butterflies, etc., and they become my patterns. I work in my basement and participate in about 20 art shows a year around Alabama. Since 2008 I have been fortunate enough to win many awards. My work has been shown in the Shelby County Arts Council Gallery in Columbiana, the Kelly Fitzpatrick Memorial Gallery in Wetumpka, SAC Gallery in Montgomery, the Charlie "TinMan" Lucas Gallery in Selma, and the ArtsRevive Carneal Building in Selma. Currently I have a several pieces in the Artists, Incorporated Gallery in Vestavia Hills. ` I actually prefer doing one to two-day shows and meeting the people who buy my gourd art. It is humbling that people love my work enough to want it for themselves, friends, or family.
If you would like to see more of my work or buy a piece, you can mail me at 13074 Hwy. 25 North, Calera, AL 35040.
