Please mark your calendar for the Annual Members' Meeting on Sunday, Jan. 12, at 2:00! New officers have been nominated by the Nomination committee. This is the procedure for new officer elections:
ARTICLE VI: OFFICERS AND THEIR ELECTIONSSection 1. ELECTION AND APPOINTMENT. Elected officers of the Corporation may be a President, Vice-President, a Secretary, and a Treasurer. These officers shall perform the duties prescribed by these by-laws adopted by the Corporation, and other duties as may be directed by the President.
Section 2. NOMINATING COMMITTEE. A nominating committee of three persons shall be selected as follows: At the regular meeting in May, following nominations from the floor, two members shall be elected by ballot, unless there are only two nominees in which case the election may be by voice. A majority vote shall constitute election. The chairman shall be a member of the Board of Directors appointed by the President.
a) The nominating committee shall submit one name for each office to be filled and report at the regular August meeting.
b) Before the election at the annual meeting, additional nominations from the floor shall be permitted. No name shall be placed in nomination without the consent of the nominee.
Section 4. OFFICERS. Officers shall be elected by ballot at the Annual Meeting unless there is only one nominee for any office, in which case the election may be by voice vote. A majority vote shall constitute election.
So, if you want to serve in one of the offices, come to the annual meeting and you can "self-nominate" or have someone nominate you and the members present will be given the opportunity to vote between you and whomever has been nominated by the Nominating Committee. The reason for this is that the nominating committee may not have known your desire to hold a position, and to insure that the Board is not a closed group, but open to all members.
If you are interested in serving, respond to this email with any questions about the duties of the office you may consider, or any other questions you may have. The By Laws have information about how the organization is set up to run. A copy is attached of the current By Laws.
Take some time to read about the various committees, too. This organization cannot function without the members serving. New opportunities arise and must be met.
Currently the Rose Gallery is looking for people who can devote an hour or two each week to open the gallery. If you want to help with this, please reply. Your input is valuable!
