Let's start out by addressing the need for volunteer participation. Now that the Rose Gallery is ready for the public and our Office is ready for classroom activity, we need to establish regular hours that the building is open to the public. It is important to have at least 2 people present at all times the Office is open to the public. Right now, the Office is open Sat from 3-5pm, with Julia teaching a class and me as the back-up guy. I would like to start by extending these Sat hours and propose a 1-3 shift and, perhaps, a 10-12 shift as well. It has been suggested to me that volunteers not commit to an every week schedule, rather an every other week schedule to avoid burnout. Please consider when you may be available on Sat(s) and respond to this email with your offer.
I'd also like to ask your feed back as far as what types of artistic classes you would like to see us offering at the Arts Council. At the Chamber Ribbon Cutting, I spoke to a young local gal who was interested in a photography class and even interested in a club...bingo!...I got her name and will follow up when we have a class that'll fit her needs. I have a friend in Birmingham willing to teach floral arranging classes so I'll hook her up with Sue Ann and get that process rolling. So, what I'm trying to say is, we need to know what you aspire to learn and we need folks who want to teach these things. Mull it over and respond with your thoughts, please.
Wishing you all a good year!
